matthew kirscht

With Halloween on the horizon, it wouldn't be right if I didn't put out a little call to all who collect Halloween art, or at least like to get into the spirit of things. About 2 years ago, my wife and were attending Halloween and Vine in Sonoma - a small collection of artists selling their folk art, original paintings, and photography. There, I met Matthew Kirscht, an extremely talented artist, who paints some of the most visually stunning Halloween pieces I have ever seen or own.

My wife recently purchased his new book 10/31 for me, and it's a beautiful collection of his work past and present, and makes a wonderful compliment to your coffee table this Halloween season. If you're a fan of independent artists, or Halloween in general, please take a look at Matthew's book. If you like it, pick up a copy and help support him and his efforts.

welcome to the new zeroface web site

december 18, 2007

The ZeroFace Project has had a somewhat tumultuous beginning, hasn't it? After many attempted starts, it's simply had a tough time getting off the ground. We began to mount projects in 2007, and project an even bigger year in 2008.

We're very proud of the My Life as a Foodie podcast, which is currently through it's 9th episode. In addition, we're proud of the two video projects we finished in 2007, including the 3-part video series "Hopped Up" from the Great American Beer Festival, and "September :: The Story of Shaun & Megan's Wedding." Our primary focus for 2008 will be photo essays, including iReports for CNN.com, as well as more video projects, and an exclusive web site for mixed media artists in our immediate area.

hopped up :: part 3

In the last of this 3-part series, we're joined by Dick & Rick from Big Foamy Head. It turns into a mad ... all » dash to try all the beers we haven't had a chance to try in the previous 2 days, so we drink anything and everything that crosses our path.

We taste beers from Carolina Brewing Company, O'Dell Brewing, O'Fallon, Surly Brewing (who wins a gold medal while we're filming), Brugge Brasserie (Indianapolis meets Brussels), Black Chocolate Stout from Brooklyn Brewery, Ommegang, an assortment of bad American beer (Old Style, Colt 45, PBR, Old Milwaukee - yes, we went there), North by Northwest, and a last trip to Dogfish Head.

In addition, there's Charlie Papazian's dedication to the memory of Michael Jackson, men in kilts, more taster glasses breaking, a unique beer pairing from Gregg, and a homebrewing smackdown. Also, Dick steals SIDT's tag-line, and Dave at O'Fallon gives a special shout out to Groucho.
